I just got done teaching a lecture at the middle school down the road. I got to do a lecture last year and loved it, so I was excited about the opportunity again this year. I spent from 8:30 to 12:30 giving my lecture. They were 30 minute classes, six times. The whole student body went through it. It was awesome. Here's a list of insights from my day:
1. It's awesome getting to see my students in their school. I wish the schools around here let you go in for lunch.
2. I enjoyed getting to meet some of the teachers. The ones that were Christian were especially kind in welcoming me and saying how glad they were that I (a minister) got to teach.
3. I spent the entire time talking. There were no breaks. My throat is sore.
4. The students really got into the lesson. It was good to see their various expressions through out.
5. The third class was difficult. They talked a lot.
6. For a few years I've been thinking about getting my Substitute teaching license (or whatever its called). I think I would enjoy it on occasion.

What did you lecture on?
"Going Viral: Developing a Contagious Attitude"
My two main point was that if we were Courageous and Selfless our attitudes would spread to the world and change the world.
Its based on Philippians 2:5 "Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ." But I obviously didn't mention that :)
FYI - You don't need a license to substitute teach. You just register with the district you want to teach in and you've got to have at least 60-some hours of college under your belt. (I want to say 66 hours, but that might not be right). There's no real certification required in the state of Missouri. I'm actually considering doing that myself if I can't find a regular job by the end of the month.
I have had a substitute a few times who is also either a pastor or youth pastor. (not sure which)
and my brother says he was in the third class. lol
